The most beloved pirate in college football died Monday night at the age of 61. After 10 seasons at Texas Tech, eight at the helm of Washington State, and three at Mississippi State, it was time for Mike Leach to step down. The university said that he was in critical condition after suffering a personal health issue at his home.
The photos were posted to social media and show the head coach leading a practice.
Mississippi State named a new coach on Sunday. The unique challenges of a sitting college football head coach passing away are still in their early stages. Over the last few days, two college football head coaches have died, the first of which was Highland Community College'sJared Powers.
