Right now, he needs the best legal representation he can get. Mark Cohen of New York's Cohen & Gresser law firm was hired by Bankman- Fried.

Whether Bankman-Fried's apology and argument that he wasn't competent enough to commit fraud will make for a compelling enough defense in court is not certain.
