The University of Virginia has posthumously awarded degrees to three people who died last month.

The dean of the College of Arts & Sciences asked the associate dean for undergraduate academic programs to make the request.

Davis majored in African American and African studies, as well as studio art and African American and African studies.

The three football players were killed on a charter bus after returning home from a class trip. Two other people were shot but survived. He is expected to get his degree this month.

Christopher Jones Jr., a former member of the football team who was on the trip, has been charged with three counts of second-degree murder.

He has been charged with two counts of malicious wounding, as well as additional gun related charges. He is in a jail in Virginia. A case status hearing will be held on Thursday.

The entire Virginia football team, along with athletic director Carla Williams, president Jim Ryan and other representatives from the athletic department and university, attended the funerals for three of their teammates.

Williams said it was a pleasure to present the diplomas to the families of the three men.
