I just read this about a month ago after I saw it in the Mrs. Dow Jones book club. It's extremely easy to read and includes real-life situations when the author (who's an actual hostage negotiator!) talked through critical standoffs. OK, so if you're pressed for time you can probably skip over those parts because there are incredibly helpful tips after that. Just check out this detailed review about the tactics used when a reviewer bought a car. Promising review: "This is a fantastic book. I am the chief negotiator of contracts for a very large hospital system. This book not only helped me in negotiations, but also in day-to-day interactions.
