For the first time, Apple's self-service repair program is available outside of the US in Europe.
The Apple Self Service Repair Store allows customers in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Sweden, and the UK to purchase genuine Apple parts. Many of the most common repairs for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 lineups will be available to customers who want to do their own repairs.
Customers will need to review the repair manual for their product and the specific repair on Apple's support website before conducting a repair. They will be able to order parts from the Self Service Repair Store after that. In order to ensure the highest quality, safety, and reliability, all the tools and parts in the store are subjected to extensive testing.
Apple will give a kit with all the essential tools needed to conduct repairs for customers at a discounted price. Customers will be able to rent the kit for a week before they need to return the device to Apple for a fee. Customers who don't want to purchase tools for a single repair can rent them.
According to the company, the program is part of their efforts to further expand access to repairs. The majority of customers should still visit a professional repair provider, such as an Apple Store, to make sure their devices are repaired safely and reliably. Over the last three years, Apple has expanded its repair network to include over 3000 independent repair providers and more than 5000 authorized service providers.
