One of the team's top offensive weapons is coming back for the next season.

Boutte said he will return to the program in order to win a national title for LSU.

Boutte was a potential first-round pick if he entered the NFL draft. In its most recent big board, B/R listed him as the No. 6 wide receiver.

There is room to improve.

The drops that plagued him early in the season have waned, but they haven't disappeared. Boutte moved to play more from the slot this year, which is concerning for a player who previously made his mark outside the numbers.

It's hard to justify giving Boutte a first-round grade despite how naturally talented he is because of the potential concerns.

After arriving at LSU as a 5-star prospect, Boutte is the second-ranked wide receiver in the class of 2020. He made an immediate impact as a freshman with 735 receiving yards and nine touchdown catches, but his numbers took a hit this year.

In 11 games, he had 538 receiving yards and two touchdown catches. To Boutte's credit, he was at his best in important moments this season with 115 receiving yards in a win over Florida and 107 yards and a touchdown in the SEC Championship Game loss to Georgia.

His talent level could bolster his status in the future.
