The tax charge was related to his attempt to stop the IRS from collecting payroll taxes from Avenatti.

The general pattern of Avenatti's scam was the same, according to prosecutors.

The client would be coerced into not complaining or investigating further by providing small "advances" on the supposedly yet-to- be-paid funds.

During Trump's presidency, Avenatti first came to public attention, while representing Daniels in connection with her having been paid $130,000 in hush money by Trump's personal lawyer before the election to keep quiet about a sexual tryst she said they had.

Trump denied that he cheated on his wife.

During the course of the year, Avenatti was a constant presence on television news shows, where he skewered the president and Cohen.

Avenatti contemplated launching a campaign for the presidency, but decided against it after he was arrested by Los Angeles police after an accusation of domestic violence by an actress with whom he had been living. The case was not brought to the attention of the L.A. City Attorney.

Avenatti was called a corrupt lawyer by the United States Attorney for the Central District of California.

He was only interested in his own interests.

The top prosecutor said that he stole millions of dollars from his clients to finance his extravagant lifestyle. He will serve a richly deserved prison sentence after losing his right to practice law in California due to his illegal acts.
