Why Rex Ryan is still excited about the Jets (0:53)

Rex Ryan still believes in New York despite the Jets' loss to the Vikings. It was 0: 53.

12:00 PM ET

Two weeks ago, the New York Jets wide receiver stood in front of his locker after a 10-3 loss to the New EnglandPatriots, tearing apart the offense. It wasn't hard to read between the lines. He had a lot of anger directed at the quarterback.

Wilson was removed from the bench three days later.

The Jets lost a heartbreaker to the Minnesota Vikings in the locker room on Sunday. Wilson was in front of a group of reporters. He wasn't upset with his quarterback. Mike White became only the fourth Jets quarterback in the last 25 years to throw for 300 yards in back-to-back games when he did so in the last two games.

Wilson said that he was out there controlling the huddle and never letting the moment get too large. It was nice to see. It is interesting to think about it now. I would fight for that boy. There is something special about him.

White played a flawed game. The ultimate job of a quarterback is to get his team in the end zone, and he couldn't do that. White strengthened his hold on the quarterback position in the eyes of his teammates after the game.

White was in his fifth career start and only his second away from home. After getting them to the 1-yard line on their final possession, he hit the imaginary brick wall on the goal line that stymied the offense most of the day.

Three feet is how long it is. There was only one thing he needed for a possible miracle win. They would have written poems about White if he had done it. There was a lot of moxie in the second half from the former QB3 and QB2.

Robert said that he thought Mike did a good job. There were some good and bad moments in a football game. He kept his composure, made some big throws, and they're a good football team.

White threw a lot (31-for-57), which isn't ideal, but he racked up 362 passing yards. The most passing yards in franchise history without a touchdown pass was achieved by him. The mark was held by Joe Namath, who did it with 341 yards in a 1968 loss to the Broncos.

White has developed something special with Wilson, who is playing like a serious contender for NFL offensive rookies of the year. Wilson has 13 reception for 257 yards and two touchdown, the most yards for any Jets receiver since Eric Decker's 221 in 2014, when White was the quarterback.

His inability to operate a consistent passing attack has prevented him from having that chemistry with any receiver. In seven starts, he has 1,279 yards. White has 694 in two starts.

Harrison Smith said that Mike White does a good job for them. He keeps the ball clean by getting it to his men.

It's unclear if White is the permanent starter or if he will go back to Wilson when he's ready to roll. It's White's job to lose, according to reality. If he pulls White, he might have a revolt in the locker room.

Several offensive players, including White, showed up for the game wearing jerseys from the AnaheimMightyDucks. The film was shot in Minneapolis. The players wore "Mike F'n White" shirts.

"He's a baller, obviously," said wide receiver and participant in both fashion statements.

Let's not make a big deal out of it. White completed only six of 17 passes for 24 yards in the red zone. Their red zone percentage was their worst in three years. They would have hung 40 on the Vikings.

He felt he should have made a fourth-down pass in the end zone when he dropped a pass in the red zone. White said he threw it behind Berrios.

Berrios said that it was on him. "Fourth down." The rush is coming and he has everything he needs. There are bodies flying around. I should've gotten it there. That is on me.

On his last six attempts in the red zone, White was not successful.

White said that his job as a quarterback was to put his team in the best position to score. It begins with me.

He scored points with his teammates by being accountable. It was the answer to a question.
