Two sources close to the Indian government say that India is looking at ways to get some of Apple's iPad production from China. The company is talking to officials. If it succeeds, it will expand Apple's footprint in the country.

Apple said earlier this year that it was starting to assemble its flagship phone in southern India. The older models of the iPhone have been produced by the tech giant.

There have been protests across the country over the past two weeks as a result of the zero- Covid policy. In early November, Apple warned that iPhone shipments would be delayed due to the Chinese government's restrictions on freedom of expression.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is looking to shift production out of China to other countries in Asia.

Sources warn that a lack of highly skilled talent and individuals with expertise in building complex devices like the iPad could slow down these plans in India. Tensions between India and China are growing. Increased military presence at the India-China border is the result of territorial disputes.

10% of the iPhones are made in India, but Gene believes production will increase slowly.

In the next five years, I think Apple will start manufacturing in other countries. Maybe Vietnam, Malaysia and the US.

While Apple has made efforts to move production out of China, in our opinion, India still accounts for less than 5% of total iPhone 14 production and is unlikely to help at this time.
