The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Indianapolis Colts. A 54-19 win against a team that is a championship contender is what should be expected.
One problem is present. The Colts had a chance to upset the Cowboys on Sunday night. For the second week in a row, the Colts' run defense struggled. The Cowboys had 220 yards on the ground on the day, with Tony Pollard and EzekielElliott leading the way.
The Cowboys only led by two points at the end of three quarters. The Boys would have been tied with the Colts at the end of the first half if Indy hadn't missed a two-point conversion.
The Colts wagon sank into the water at the end of the game in the 90's floppy disk classic Oregon Trail. Four of their five turnovers happened in the last quarter. The Colts were routed 33-0 by the Cowboys in the final quarter of the game, but should a meltdown from a team with an interim head coach who was pulled off of the air show instill confidence in those who root for that star?
The Cowboys have a very good defense. They were second in the league in defensive DVOA. They have only allowed 20 or more points once. They were able to go on a run early in the season because of the injury to their quarterback.
There are a lot of reasons to be happy with a home game remaining against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cowboys have not shown themselves to have much explosion on offense despite the fact that they have a healthy quarterback.
The Eagles still have an offense that can make big plays. The pass catchers and Hurts are special. He is mobile but not a game-changing player with his feet. Tony Pollard has shown he can play big-play, but he isn't as big-play as he was last year. It is easy to see why the Cowboys were in a close game with the Colts for three quarters last night. The Cowboys only had 165 passing yards until the fourth quarter.
If the Cowboys make it to the Super Bowl, the defense will keep them there. It's that good. The way that they dismantled the Colts last night showed that they need to be prepared for a fight.
The Cowboys need their offense to perform better than it did in Week 13 in order to stay alive.
