Graham Mertz, a former top 25 national recruit, will enter the transfer portal.

Mertz said that he has two seasons of eligibility. His name isn't currently in the portal. He was in favor of Jim Leonhard getting the permanent job, but Wisconsin hired a different coach.

Mertz thanked the people who made his dream come true.

In three seasons, Mertz has 5,405 passing yards with 38 touchdown and 26 interception, going 19-13 as Wisconsin's starter. Mertz had poor results in the past.

He was the most decorated quarterback recruit in the program's history. After Jack Coan suffered a season-ending foot injury in training camp, Mertz moved into the starting role the next season.
