On Thanksgiving day, a father died in Tennessee after he caught on fire as hospital staff tried to defibrillate him.

Bobby Ray Stark was unable to use his legs for seven years and relied on his wife, Kathy Stark, for help. Kathy told the outlet that he went to the hospital for a foot infection and bed sores and was later transferred to TriStar Centennial where staff tried to revive him with a defibrillar.

Kathy said that the paddles blew up when they were started. I burst out after seeing that.

Kathy said that she saw the flames cover her husband's body.

He had burns on his throat, face, head, chest, and hands. He was on fire and Kathy said to put him out.

Kathy told the outlet that Stark died on Thanksgiving night. She is staying with his daughter.

Feakes said that Kathy was told that this was the first time it had happened.

Feakes said that they need to make sure that doesn't happen to someone else. We lost him on Thanksgiving.

The hospital extended its deepest sympathies to the family of the person who died.

We are looking at the care provided to the patient and the equipment. Our hearts go out to the family of the person who died.

Feakes started a GoFundMe to raise money for Kathy, who she said relied on Stark's social security to make ends meet.

She was in the room at the time and saw what happened to him. Feakes wrote that she had to deal with the loss of her husband and best friend, as well as seeing and smelling the things that happened to him.
