He said that he embraced the expectations for how the program would be run.
In the past two years, officials at Coastal Carolina prepared extensively to replace Chadwell, according to sources. School officials didn't have to hire a search firm because they dug in on candidates.
Beck has a good offensive resume. He has recruited several top quarterbacks to college football, including Todd Reesing to Kansas, Sam Ehlinger to Texas, and J.T.Barrett to Ohio State. Beck worked with a quarterback who was one of the most productive in the country in the year 2021.
Beck was a finalist for the award two years in a row. Beck was a high school head coach for nine years before he was hired as the head coach at Coastal Carolina.
Beck's daughter played volleyball at the school.
He knows Joe Moglia, the former coach of Coastal Carolina who now serves as the school's chair of athletics/executive director for football. Beck was an assistant at Nebraska when Moglia left the business world to return to coaching.
I've known Tim since I came back to coaching 13 years ago. Moglia said that he has always had the best interest of his players, coaches, and school in mind. I'm proud of what our program has accomplished in the last decade. Tim will be able to build on that.
