A former federal prosecutor said that President Donald Trump's comments calling for the "termination" of the Constitution are wrong, crazy, and dangerous.

During an appearance on CNN, Elie Honig, a legal analyst for the network who previously served as an assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, was informed on-air of statements that Trump had posted.

The Truth Social network was used by the former president to relitigate the results of the 2020 election even though he didn't have any proof of fraud.

Are you going to throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 out or are you going to hold a new election? All rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution, can be terminated because of a Massive Fraud like this. Our founding fathers would not condone false and fraudulent elections.

Honig commented on the former president's comments.

I have no idea where to start. Almost every word of Donald Trump's statement is wrong, crazy, and dangerous. Donald Trump says that to do what he's suggesting would require the end of the constitution, which would leave us without a democracy, according to him.

He said that he didn't think the DOJ was paying attention to it. Sometimes you need to focus on the facts in the law that are relevant to a crime. I believe DOJ prosecutors are looking at this statement and just ignoring it.

The Department of Justice is looking into Trump's attempts to stay in office after he lost the election. Jack Smith was selected by the United States Attorney General to oversee the department's investigation into the former president's retention of highly sensitive documents after his White House term ended in January 2021.
