Mass shipments of components for the headset are likely to start in the first half of the year, but mass shipments of fully assembled headsets may not start until the second half of the year, according to Kuo. If Apple announces it earlier in the year, the headset will launch in the second half of 2020.

It's a good time for Apple to announce a headset and an app development kit for the device at the upcoming WWDC in June.

Apple was going to launch the headset at a January media event and begin mass shipments in the second quarter of 2023, according to a previous report. He does not know if the delay will result in the January announcement being pushed back or if it will hurt sales.
