Cesar Sampaio, Brazil's assistant coach, wants everyone to send a prayer to the man in the hospital.

Fans of the three-time World Cup winner were reassured on Saturday that he is strong with a lot of hope, after he was hospitalized for a few days.

The great said that he is receiving end of life care.

"We ask you to send a prayer regardless of your religion, even if you don't agree with us," said Sampaio.

He is a man who has influenced me not only as an athlete but as a person.

It was hard to talk to him because of what he represents.

Since having a tumours removed from his colon in September of 2021, he has received regular treatment and on Thursday said he was at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein for a monthly visit.

The hospital said on Saturday that he had responded well to treatment and was still receiving treatment.

It said that Pele was undergoing an assessment of his treatment.

The coach of Brazil shared his admiration for the former player on Sunday after receiving messages of support.

Tite said that he was shaking when he met him.

I felt like I was going to have the chance to greet him.

We all feel that way. It's a tough time.

"We wish him to recover quickly, he was my idol as a child," said the former boss.
