Melanie Rose didn't want to be a sex room designer. She plummeted into it.

Rose wanted to create kitchens, bathrooms, and other spaces when she started her career.

A client asked if she had ever created a sex room. She made a point of asking more about them.

She pitched a TV series based on her erotic fiction to the president of ITV America.

Rose's career as a sex-room designer was a better topic for the program.

Rose said that he didn't think he would land his own show on the streaming service.

She is the host of the show "How to build a Sex Room", which aired at the beginning of July. During the show, Rose allows couples to explore and develop their relationship through the renovation of their rooms.

Sex rooms aren't cheap

The cost of converting rooms into sex rooms depends on the size and complexity of the space. The dollars can add up if you take down walls.

A small sex room can cost up to $40,000, but larger rooms can cost as much as $200,000.

During the show, Rose scatters sex themed ornaments and artwork across the clients' rooms.

She said that it could be as large as you want it to be and as expensive as you want it to be.

Tally-ho chairs and sex swings

A tally-ho chair is the most expensive item Rose has used. A chair with straps and stirrups can cost thousands of dollars.

The green tally-ho chair that was used in the film "50 Shades of Grey" cost over $13,000. There is a $28,500 version of the chair in Goop's holiday gift guide.

The sex swing, a piece of equipment that hangs from the ceiling with stirrups attached, is the hottest item on the market.

Boutique stores have the goods

Rose goes to family-run businesses instead.

She said that she wanted to keep those stores alive and thriving.

The accessories for the sex rooms were purchased from local stores. Rose loves shopping at Stockroom in Los Angeles for lingerie and bondage for her clients.
