There is a capital city in Virginia. The former medical director of a hospital that serves vulnerable children has been charged with four felony sex crimes.
The Cumberland Hospital for Children and Adolescents' former employee was indicted by a grand jury last month. The records were made public.
An attorney for Davidow told The Associated Press that they are not in a position to comment.
The hospital is located in New Kent County, which is half an hour east of the state capital. Virginia State Police have been investigating staff at the hospital for the past year. The facility is facing civil lawsuits that say it operated without proper licenses and that it was a poor example of fundamental Sanitation or humanity.
The lawsuits and other concerns from patients' parents about the hospital have raised alarms at the highest levels of state government over at least two governors.
More than three dozen women have accused Davidow of sexually abusing them during physical exams. Davidow has denied the allegations in the past.
The indictments were connected to allegations made by two of Biniazan's clients, he said.
He said that the first thing he thought of was that it had been a long time coming. I hope that it gives the public and my clients a sense of legitimacy. They have been doubted and discouraged from coming forward.
The hospital's attorneys and representatives didn't respond to an email inquiry from the AP.
Davidow was in custody at a local jail and was being held without bond.
He is charged with two counts of sexual battery and two counts of sexual penetration.
There are no additional details offered in the charging documents about the allegations. The abuse of one victim took place from March to April. According to the documents, the other child was abused from October to December of last year.
The charges were brought in connection with acts of sexual abuse and sexual assault that occurred at the hospital. His office wouldn't have anything to say.
The indictments state that Davidow abused the victim through her mental incapacity or physical inability.
The Cumberland Hospital matter has been handled by Renick's small office since the Attorney General handed it off earlier this year.
The office of Miyares had previously explained the change in course.
The former patients' lawyer said that they were grateful to the New Kent County Commonwealth Attorney's office. The indictments are a reflection of the bravery of our clients.
The office prosecuted two hospital staffers.
The other died by suicide the same day he was due in court for a plea hearing. A behavioral technician was sentenced in December to a year in prison after pleading no contest to an allegation that she burned a disabled child.
