The Michigan football team won its second straight Big Ten title with a 43-22 victory over the Boilermakers.

The 13 win season is the first in school history. If they win two more games, they will get their first national championship in 20 years.

For the second week in a row,Edwards stole the show, with injured starBlake Corum out for the season.

He is the best running back in college football If he hadn't gotten hurt, he would have easily won the award, so this is for him. It's kind of self-explanatory what we want. We've talked about them all year, I don't think there's much more to say.

After shredding rival Ohio State for 216 yards and two scores last week, Edwards broke open this game with a 60-yard run on the first play of the second half. He scored a touchdown on Michigan's next series.

After trailing 14-13 at halftime, Michigan scored on its first seven plays of the second half.

The Boilermakers were able to make it interesting for a while.

O'Connell missed some practice time this week to mourn the death of his oldest brother, but he was still able to make it through the game with a big day. Jones was a part of the Iowa team that lost to Michigan last year.

It wasn't sufficient.

McCarthy threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Colston Loveland on the first play of the game to give Michigan a lead it wouldn't relinquish.

Mitchell Fineran kicked a field goal to give the Boilermakers a one point lead.

Michigan responded by going for the first down, picking up the first down, and then converting the drive into a touchdown by McCarthy to Schoonmaker. There was never a chance for the Wolverines to trail again.

The big run set up the 1- yard plunge by Mullings.

Three more field goals wasn't enough for the Boilermakers.

McCarthy had 161 yards and an intercept.

On Saturday morning, Corum said his knee surgery went well.
