Floyd is willing to spend a lot of money in order to own an NBA team.

The retired boxer and his business partner made an offer of over $2 billion for majority ownership of the NBA team.

While he's willing to own a potential expansion team in Las Vegas or Seattle, he's also keeping an eye on any current teams that might be for sale.

It's likely years away because the NBA wants to negotiate its new television/media rights deals and a collective bargaining agreement before adding new teams.

The Phoenix Suns are the only NBA team for sale. Robert Sarver announced in September that he would sell the club, as well as the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, due to the league's investigation that found he used racist language, had "instances of inequitable conduct toward female employees" and made "sex- related comments"

The Suns will likely be sold for the highest price in NBA history, according to an investment banker. The previous record holder is the Brooklyn Nets.

A hurdle that would have to be overcome to become the owner of an NBA team is highlighted by the Sarver situation.

Even though he claims to have the money, he has a lot of legal problems.

There are a lot of domestic abuse allegations against Floyd. He was sentenced for punching the mother of his daughter at their home.

In December of last year, he pleaded guilty to a battery domestic violence charge and two harassment charges stemming from an argument with his ex-girlfriend in front of two of his children. He was released after two months because of good behavior.
