The most recent large-scale live event was strange even by the standards of the popular video game. Now that the event is over, the game is down ahead of the launch of the next chapter, which will introduce not only a new island, but characters like the witcher himself.
Before the game started, players were split into groups and hung out on small floating islands with little to do but watch a TV screen. Three people sat around roasting marshmallows. In the next scene, The Herald, a relatively new character in the game, led an attack of tornadoes, and after a little bit of fighting, a chrome version of her appeared, causing the entire island to explode into many, many pieces.
A bunch of fragments of the destroyed island as well as players were lassoed together after players found themselves floating amongst debris in space. Everyone had to work together to get energy orbs for the Zero Point.
This one was a little less frenetic than past events, like a battle against Galactus or an alien invasion, but it was still fun. It felt like a lot of work. To power up the Zero Point, players had to perform simple tasks such as building a snowman or finding matching objects. They can relive some of the past events, like the rolling cube or the kaiju battle. There would be more pieces of the destroyed island as the portal powered itself up.
The event shifted to another scene after the Zero Point was powered up, in which a character named "Paradigm" appeared to be in charge of a new island.
The whole thing took 45 minutes to complete, and lacked the excitement of previous events. Just like its predecessors, it made absolutely no sense unless you are following the story of the game. A glimpse of the new island in the background is what players are currently seeing when they log in. Chapter 4 is due to launch on December 4th, and the splash screen shows off a number of new characters. Dirt bikes are teased in the art.
There are three finale events in the history of the game. A few days after the original island was sucked into a black hole, Chapter 2 started. The third chapter was written two years after that. The Zero build mode has been added to the game.
