Matthew Stafford has been put on injured reserve by the Rams.
It is possible for Stafford to return to the active roster in Week 17
In the Rams' Week 11 loss to the New Orleans Saints, Stafford left the game after being evaluated for a concussion. Sean McVay said that Stafford had some numbness in his legs after he took a hit. On Friday, Stafford passed the concussion protocol.
After being cleared from the concussion protocol, Stafford played against the Saints. The medical staff of the Rams decided that it was best for Stafford to enter the concussion protocol.
On the day after Stafford entered the concussion protocol, McVay didn't see any signs of concussion symptoms. The appropriate thing for the person and the player in this instance is to put him in the protocol after Stafford was asked some questions after the game.
The day after Stafford cleared the concussion protocol for the second time this season, he was asked if he would play again.
"Matthew's the ultimate competitor, but the best thing that you can do is protect him from himself," McVay said.
McVay said that he and Stafford talk daily. This guy is going to want to play if there is any chance that he can. The smart thing to do is not play you, based on what we're gathering. I think he knows that I have his best interests at heart and that we have his best interest as well. That is a possibility if that is the case.
He wants to play. Matthew Stafford is going to want to do everything he can to be out there and compete with his teammates.
