The Laundress brand of laundry and cleaning products were recalled because they may containbacteria that can cause infections in people.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday that there was a recall of laundry detergent and other cleaning products.
It is possible that the recalled products containbacteria in the soil and water. It was not known how it happened.
The commission said that people with weakened immune systems, external medical devices, and underlying lung conditions who are exposed to thebacteria face a risk of serious infections that may require medical treatment. If there is a break in the skin, thebacteria can enter the body.
The commission said that eleven consumers have reported getting infections. The company is looking into whether the infections are related to the recalled products.
The company saidSymptoms may range from mild skin symptoms to more serious signs of infections.
Customers can use the Laundress products that are not included in the recall.
The company said they are taking decisive steps with their suppliers to make sure production processes meet their safety and quality standards.
The products were sold directly by the Laundress, as well as at many other retailers in the US and Canada. There is a way for consumers to request a refunds.
Consumers should dispose of the product by closing the bottle and putting it in the trash. The product should not be emptied before disposal.
