The United States men's national team has come to an end.
The Stars and Stripes lost to the Netherlands in the round of 16 after beating Iran in the group stage.
The US fell against the Dutch after getting out of a tight group. They looked tired and out of ideas.
There are many lessons the team can take as they build towards the next tournament.
The USMNT ran in Qatar.
The USMNT's midfield impressed in the group stage despite their lackluster performance against the Dutch.
Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie and Yunus Musah will be better prepared for their second World Cup experience when they are all 24 years old.
If the World Cup form transitions to club football, Adams and Musah may be able to move to bigger European teams.
The trio were able to compete against some of the best players in the world, as they did against England.
Football Talent Scout - Jacek Kulig @FTalentScoutExcellent performance by the midfield duo Tyler Adams & Yunus Musah.Weston McKennie did a great job as mezzala/false winger too.England's midfield completely shut down.

Adams was particularly impressive in showing a level of maturity that goes beyond their years.
There is no reason why they can't start in 2026 if they can keep up their form.
The man was hired to do what he was told to do.
He earned the U.S. a spot in the round of 16. There is a chance that the U.S. Soccer Federation could move on from Berhalter.
The 49-year-old might want to go back to Europe. He spent two years in Sweden with Hammarby before taking his first MLS management position with the Columbus Crew.
There are questions about Berhalter's decisions, but there is a chance that European sides are interested in his services.
Who would replace Berhalter if he left? Jesse Marsch has been mentioned as a potential candidate, but no concrete information has been established.
It is hoped that whoever takes the mantle can tailor their tactics to the players at their disposal and not like Berhalter did.
Tim Ream was one of the best defenders in the U.S. Everyone is getting older.
Ream will be 38 years old by the year 2020.
When Ream is gone, the U.S. has a lot of talent to choose from.
Should they stay injury-free, they will be thrown into the ring. The two players have made an impact for the USMNT in the past.
There will be defenders not currently on the radar who will make their mark.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out, but the U.S. will have time to find a new center-back.
The US couldn't finish their chances throughout the tournament.
In the group stage, they only scored two goals from open play, and it took until the 76th minute to get one against the Netherlands.
That is not acceptable for a team with many attacking talents.
The tactics of Berhalter did not help. His tendency to set up his team to play from the wings didn't work for the U.S.
The players have to finish their chances too.
The U.S. might have fancied their chances if he had scored in the first minute.
As they look back at this tournament, the U.S. will be held responsible for missing that chance. It's something to improve on as the year progresses.
There was a lot of discussion about who could start in the ninth position.
No one was particularly impressed. Three people managed a single goal.
Wright and Ferreira were not the right personnel for the U.S. to play how they wanted to.
The issue needs to be addressed by the year 26.
There will be at least one or two players who make their mark on the national team during those four years.
The team would be much better with forwards such as Brandon Vzquez and Jordan Pefok.
Someone needs to be able to score consistently. It's not possible to repeat what happened in Qatar.
