Two days after a 7-year-old girl went missing, a FedEx contract driver was arrested and accused of kidnapping and murdering her.

Around 200 people from the community joined the search for the missing woman in Paradise.

The sheriff told reporters that the body was found southeast of the city of Boyd.

Akin said at the news conference that they had confessed.

A man has been arrested on charges of capital murder and kidnapping.

He was being held in lieu of bail. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney who could speak for him.

Akin has said that the child was reported missing after her stepmother reported her missing.

The package was delivered at the home around the time of her disappearance. He said investigators think the girl died within an hour.

The officials at the news conference didn't give a reason for the child's death.

FedEx said in a statement that their thoughts are with the family.

FedEx said they were shocked and sad by the reports of the tragedy.

Questions were directed to law enforcement. It wasn't clear how long he'd been with the company.

Helicopters with thermal imagery, help from the Texas Rangers and neighboring police departments, and the FBI, among others, were involved in the search for the missing woman. An amber alert was issued by the Texas Department of Public safety.

James Dwyer, the FBI special agent in charge of the Dallas field office, stated that investigators were able to look through digital evidence and work with FedEx. He didn't specify what the evidence was.

He hoped the family had some answers. He said that they offer their deepest sympathies.

Akin said that when the child's body was taken to the medical examiner's office, there were two Texas Rangers behind the vehicle.
