Wild group stage finish: Suarez's tears, Son's joy

In keeping with the drama we've seen the last few days, Friday's slate brought a lot of big moments.

A last-minute goal by South Korea against Portugal gave them a win and a spot in the knockouts, just as it looked as if they would advance by beatingGhana.

Friday's game was billed as a revenge match for the Black Stars after they were eliminated in the 2010 World Cup. The two goals Friday looked like they were going to ruin the party. When the monitors showed the score of the South Korea-Portugal game, cameras quickly cut to him on the bench.

It wasn't enough to flip the tie in their favor. The last time the 35-year-old wore it at a World Cup, he cried and buried his head in his jersey.

South Korean supporters across town were not in the same situation as the Uruguayans. With the game against Portugal level at one point, Hwang Hee-chan's goal in the last minute of the game ensured that South Korea would finish in the top spot.

Captain Son Heung-min has been accused of trying to do too much himself when he plays for the national team. When his teammates needed him the most, Son was the one who delivered.

Brazil had already secured a spot in the round of 16 and were hoping to win all three of their group stage games. The Brazilians couldn't muster much against a team that was trying to keep their hopes alive.

The African side had a chance after a 92nd-minute goal byVincent Aboubakar, who was sent off for taking his shirt off in celebration.

It was a fitting way to end the World Cup, with no teams winning the maximum nine points for the first time since 1994.

USA vs. Netherlands: Get your popcorn (and coffee) ready

The last-16 clash with the Netherlands is what Christian Pulisic is looking forward to.

The winner of Saturday's match will face either Argentina or Australia in the next round.

The good news for US fans is that Christian Pulisic is able to play against the Dutch. After he scored Tuesday's game-winning goal that sent the USMNT into the round of 16 he showed us what apelvic contusion is.

It's not clear whether he can go the full 90 minutes on Saturday. He said that he might be limited in how long he can play.

"I'm going to do everything in my power, with this staff and medical team, to make sure that however long I can be out on that field, I'll be out there giving my 100 percent no matter what," he stated.

Several members of the Netherlands squad are sick with the flu, though manager Louis van Gaal didn't reveal who.

If you're looking to bet on the World Cup, Paul Carr, Dan Thomas and Dalen Cuff are here to give you key tips. We have what you need for Saturday's matches.

The Netherlands drew with the USA.

The USA double chance is at -125 and I like it. Despite seven points in the group stage and being outshot by 10, the Dutch were not impressive. Having Memphis Depay back in the lineup helps, but the US lost to England, so I'll take the US to at least get this to extra time.

I think this could be a replay of the England game. After 90 minutes, I would take nothing.

Dalen Cuff thinks he's justified, even though he's being a homers here. The Dutch team is not very strong. The US team has talent and has excelled against England. The US should advance at +180. In the first half, I think this is going to be a close game. The first half was boring.

Argentina and Australia played out a draw in the round of 16.

Australia advanced to the knockout stage, but that doesn't mean they are a great team. In the group stage, Argentina had the third-most expected goals, and Australia was 30th with 1.7 expected goals. Messi is from Argentina. I'm willing to lay the 1.5 goals at -160, and I'm also willing to lay the 2.5 goals at +170.

This must be an Argentina victory. Where can we find value in this game? Angel Di Maria will help me at +125.

There is no worth here. I'm going to pass because I'm not willing to lay 2.5 in order to get into it.
