According to sources, Deion is going to leave Jackson State to become the head coach at Colorado.

Sources said that with Jackson State on the verge of the SWAC title game, he and his associates made inquiries to both potential members of his on-field staff and support staff at Colorado to join him in Boulder.

According to a source, a call was made to a player in the NCAA transfer portal to encourage him to not make a decision because he was going to Colorado.

According to sources, the support staff at Colorado has been preparing for the hire of a new boss. The staff hasn't been told officially, but there's a lot of expectation that he'll come this weekend.

A staff source said that they weren't doing a good job of hiding it. It would be a big problem for Colorado if he backed out.

He has said that he has been offered the Colorado job. All indications are that he will accept it in the next 48 hours, as the other candidates have been stalling.

He has gone 22-2 the past two years at Jackson State. Jackson State plays Southern for the SWAC title on Saturday, and the coach is expected to tell his team that he's leaving after the game.

Jackson State is 11-0 and will play Southern on Saturday. He has been a college football coach for three years.

In three years as Colorado's coach, Karl Dorrell's record was 8-15, but he was fired in October after an 0-5 start. The year ended with Mike Sanford going 1-6.

He is a member of both the Pro Football and College Football Hall of Fame. He won two Super Bowls in the National Football League and five Major League Baseball teams.
