The chief twit's favorite feature is now the site's greatest weakness.

The Community Notes feature has been promoted frequently by Musk since he took over. Community Notes allow users without policy violations who are accepted into the program to use context on other users' social media posts. In the past, the feature was used to debunk misinformation about election fraud and the dangers of vaccines.

Community Notes are being used to spread antisemitic content.

On Thursday, West appeared on Alex Jones' program to promote his upcoming presidential run. West expressed his admiration for Hitler and his love for the Nazis.

West was the only one on Jones' show who didn't have a banned account. West gave his phone to each of them so they could use his account.

A group of far-right conspiracy theorists posted a small message to West's account. They called on Musk to stand for free speech and notban their accounts.

The only ones that had Community Notes added were those from West. The notes from users who were accepted into the Community Notes program were included on the tweets, as well as a link to the Banned Video website.

Shortly after his account was banned by Musk for promoting antisemitic imagery and "inciting violence," West never posted a link to his Alex Jones interview. Users can't even post a link to the Banned Video website on the social networking site. The Community Notes were able to act as a way to link to and promote Jones' website featuring West's antisemitic interview. As West's account went viral with hundreds of thousands of likes and millions of views, the link was embedded on many of his posts.

Community Notes should not have been included as there was no debunking of any of West's content. Users could have linked toReputable news sources if these notes had been required. The notes were copied and pasted from one user to another in order to game the moderation system.

The Community Notes feature was being used to sharebanned links to West's interview. It worked. The Community Notes kept up with West's posts as they went viral. Even though other users can rate and remove Community Notes that don't add any real context, they were never removed. The Community Notes linking out to Jones' show were removed when West's account was banned.

The direction of the platform has been in the hands of Musk since he acquired it. Musk has recently reinstated numerous formerly banned controversial figures on the right, such as Donald Trump, while also suspending a number of left-wing users.

The feature has been used more often by right-wing users since Musk took over, according to longtime Community Notes members. Even as he promotes the feature, Musk has laid off key employees involved in the program.

One Community Notes user told the Washington Post that Musk had taken over the company.
