Tariq Lamptey, Aaron Mooy and Kaoru Mitoma
Who have you rated as the top performers in the group stages?

The World Cup group stage has always been busy.

The group games have been packed into 13 days and there are many upsets.

We've asked you to rate the players in every game so far, and we've crunched the numbers to find the hits and misses.

Six of the highest-rated XI have played for the Seagulls, and many of your teams have appeared in the UK as well, with many of them coming from the UK.

There is no room for Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Co. in the player-rater XI.

Your team of the group stage

The group stage is decided by the best average rankings from the users of the sport.

Team of the group stage

Mat Ryan is a goalkeeper.

Opponents: Pervis Estupinan, Ecuador (8.17); Harry Souttar, Australia (7.86); Takehiro Tomiyasu, Japan (8.01).

Midfielders are Ao Tanaka, Japan, and Moises Caicedo.

The forwards are Iliman Ndiaye, Senegal, Daizen Maeda, Japan, and Kaoru Mitoma, Japan.

The top five players

Takehiro Tomiyasu
Japan and Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has been rated highest by BBC Sport readers so far at the World Cup

The players who will light up the tournament are the ones who are talked about the most. We don't think any of the top five performers from the group stage would have made a big deal of it.

Takehiro Tomiyasu has only made two substitute appearances for Japan, but he is the top rated player with an average rating of 8.70.

Daizen Maeda is the second Japanese player in the top five with an average rating. He might have been helped by the fact that he wasn't involved in the loss to Costa Rica.

Even though Ao Tanaka scored the goal that saw Japan through to the knockout stage, he still got an 8.25.

The man who was thought to have just kept the ball in play was Kaoru Mitoma. The forward came off the bench in all three of Japan's group matches and never missed a beat.

Iliman Ndiaye is fromSenegal and he is on 8.22. The attacker, who spent three years in English non-league football with Boreham Wood, made a big impression off the bench in the win over Qatar.

How did Home Nations players perform?

Robert Page's side went home after one point from three and the Three Lions went into the second round without a loss.

You have rated Phil Foden as England's star performer so far, with his scores from a substitute appearance against Iran and his first start against Wales average of 7.54.

Looking at England players who have started every game and it is Jude Bellingham who leads the way with an average of 6.64 with only his score of 4.7 in the drab goalless draw with USA leaving him below Foden.

Foden replaced Mason Mount in Tuesday's win against Wales and his average from his two starts has been the lowest of the bunch.

You rated Bournemouth's Kieffer Moore as the top performer in Wales.

Moore kept his place for the last two group games after being brought on a half-time substitute.

What's your worst performer for Wales? It's the man with 3.57.

The standout performances

Son Heung-min
Nice one, Son's crying. The Tottenham forward sobbed tears of joy after South Korea sealed progress to the last 16

There have been no shortage of shocks in the group stage but one in particular seemed to stand out, with three of the top individual performances, as rated by you, all coming in the same game, and all were substitute as Japan came from behind to beat Germany.

The second-highest match score is 9.13 because of the fact that Mitoma was on the pitch for just 40 minutes.

Four minutes after Doan came on, he hit the ball into the back of the net to bring Japan back into the game. It is close to that by Tomiyasu on 9.11.

The highest individual ranking of all? Son Heung-min, whose tears of joy after South Korea's win over Portugal on Friday earned the forward a heady 8.25 rating, was the star of the show.
