The Colorado Secretary of State ordered a recount in the state's third district after a close race between incumbent Rep. Lauren Boebert and her challenger, Adam Frisch.
The recount is required because the vote differential between Boebert and Frisch is less than half of the total votes cast for the incumbent.
If the differential is less than the winner's total vote, a recount is called.
The Democrat conceded the race after Boebert won with 50.08 percent of the vote.
The Republican received more votes than her opponent.
The results of the District 3 race reinforce the fact that every vote is important.
In accordance with Colorado law, I am ordering a recount to confirm the will of the voters.
State law requires that all 27 counties in Colorado's 3rd District recount their votes by the end of December.
Boebert maintained that the recount wouldn't change her winning margin.
"Come January, you can be certain of two things: I will be sworn in for my second term as your congresswoman and Republicans can finally turn Pelosi's House back into the people's House."
Frisch agreed with the incumbent that the recount would not change the outcome of the race.
Frisch wrote that he could not perpetuate false hope that the recount would change the outcome of the election because he was fully supportive of the recount.
I promise to run this race with integrity because I am who I am.
