A random act of kindness cost a woman thousands.
Diana Izurieta received a text message saying she was one of 50 people chosen at random to receive $90,000 from the Gilbert, Arizona, couple who won the $474 million Powerball prize in May.
Izurieta said they started asking for credit card numbers after sending the first $1,000.
"Mr. Woodman" squeezed nearly $10,000 more from Izurieta with false promises.
She didn't have anything she could do to get her money back, but she still wants someone to be held accountable.
She said she wanted to put him in jail.
Someone has promised to give faulty lottery winnings before.
The Arizona Lottery issued a nationwide warning in 2020 after a couple won $400 million and people received fake emails promising them $2 million from the windfall.
The executive director of the Arizona Lottery told 12 News people should be wary of anything that sounds too good to be true and should forward any potential lottery scam to the Arizona Attorney General's office.
