A 10-year-old Wisconsin boy has been charged as an adult after he told police he killed his mother because she wouldn't buy him a virtual reality headset.
He said he was angry because she woke him up half an hour earlier than usual.
According to the criminal complaint against him, he used his mother's Amazon account to purchase a headset the day after she died.
The boy apologized for his mom's death, but he didn't show any remorse.
He admitted to shooting his mother in the face when she was three feet away. He told his sister what had happened.
Police said the boy initially claimed the gun had discharged as he twirled it around.
According to the criminal complaint, his sister said that her brother had "rage issues" all of his life and had "five different imaginary people that talk to him."
He would spin the family's puppy around in the air by its tail as it whined and howled in pain when he was a child.
The boy was given a troubling diagnosis by a therapist. The mother put cameras in the home to watch her son. The cameras were unplugged two weeks before the mother died.
Police said the boy admitted that guns are dangerous and can kill people.
When he saw his grandmother crying the day after the shooting, the boy apologized without any sympathy or understanding. The complaint states that he apologized for killing his mother.
He asked if his package arrived after apologizing.
The boy has been accused of killing someone. He could face a maximum of 60 years in prison if found guilty.
