The last time the Dragon flew down was in Chicago.

The capsule which flew two uncrewed missions to deliver cargo to and from the International Space Station arrived at the Museum of Science and Industry in Illinois. The Henry Crown Space Center will be home to the Dragon when it goes on public display in the spring of23.

Chevy Humphrey, president and chief executive officer of the Museum of Science and Industry, expressed his gratitude for the gift during a ceremony on Thursday. The curiosity and creativity of future engineers, makers, scientists and those who will create the sustainable solutions that propel us forward is sure to be stimulated by the Space X spaceship.

Humphrey is looking forward to the permanent exhibition opening.

The 13th and last first- generation cargo capsule produced by the company was the Dragon. The same design as the Dragon that became the world's first commercial spaceship to be recovered intact flew to the International Space Station.

On its first Commercial Resupply Services (CRS) flight for NASA, C113 lifted off on the CRS-12 mission carrying more than 6,400 pounds of science equipment and crew supplies for the station's Expedition 52 astronauts, including the Cosmic-Ray Energetics and After 31 days in space, the Dragon came back to Earth.

In May of this year, C113 rode again on a rocket for NASA. A communications demo using beams of X-rays is one of the things the Dragon launched with. After 27 days off of Earth, the capsule came down.

The Dragon spent 64 days on two missions.

The first- generation Dragon was retired in 2020 and replaced with a more advanced model that could fly both cargo and astronauts.

The deputy mayor of Chicago said that the Dragon spaceship embodies an exciting future for the South Side, as well as for space exploration as a whole. It will inspire us for our next chapter in terms of us being a 'city of stories' if we have this at our fingertips.

The first- generation Dragon capsule is on display at three different places. C101, the first Dragon to fly, hangs from the ceiling at the headquarters of the company. At the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida, the first Dragon to dock at the International Space Station, C101, is on display.

The Henry Crown Space Center pays tribute to the "dreams and drama of space exploration" with interactives and stories about the missions that led us into space. The Apollo 8 command module, which was used to send the first humans to the moon, is located at the museum.
