Von Miller was placed on injured reserve by the Buffalo Bills hours before the team's Thursday night game against the New England Pats.
According to Miller, he will be out at least the next four games due to a knee injury. According to Brandon Beane, the team's hope is that he will return this season.
He has been trying to rehabilitate it. He's a competitor and we don't want to rush him. We love him because of that. That's the reason he's so good. He would do it if he could wheel it out there. We think it's best for him to give this time and allow us to help him down the stretch.
The Bills are going to play three of their next four games against teams in the division. The earliest Miller could come back isWeek 17 against Cincinnati.
Ed Oliver said that knowing that Von is still around and his personality is still around is just as good as him being on the field.
Although the defense will be without sack leader in Miller for a key stretch, the team's two other defensive ends are expected to return from ankle injuries against the Pats.
Miller said on his radio show Tuesday that he was hopeful that he would be able to return for the game against the New York Jets next week, but Beane said putting him on injured reserve Thursday would allow him to miss the game.
Miller said on the show that he has some damage to the knee. "But I feel like I can play through that, so I'm just gonna wait a little bit, and let the swelling go down for about seven to 10 days and, hopefully, right before the Jets game I will be back"
Miller is third in the league in quarterback pressures, behind Dallas Cowboys and New England. Miller has the largest pressure gap of any Bills player this season. Miller leads the Bills in sacks and pass rush win rate.
Miller said that if he's out there, he feels confident.
