When a number that is obviously a scam hits your phone, you will almost always be able to block that number and report it as a scam. What if a number isn't immediately recognized as junk mail? If you are dealing with a harasser, what would you do? The number can be easily blocked.
We are going to look at how to block numbers on both phones. The method should be the same if you have a phone from another company.
If you are like us, you will often get a call from an unknown source. Is it a call that got lost? A charity is trying to raise money. Are you talking to someone from your doctor's office?
If you get a call but don't know if you want to take it, you can use the phone's features.
When someone calls from a number that isn't in your contact list, you will usually get a pop-up that gives you the option of declining, screening, or answering the call. If you decline the call, it will be left on the phone. You can either take the call, refuse it, or send an automatic message if you screen the call.
You can block the call after you hang up.
There is a phone app called Smart Call that offers basic identification for telemarketers. To turn it on, open the phone app, tap the three dots in the upper right of the screen, and then tap the settings option. The feature can be turned on if you want to block calls from callers not in your contact list. Only high-risk calls can be blocked, or all the calls can be blocked. You will need to agree to its terms to use this feature on your phone.
It is possible that a call screening feature will be available soon. The only thing that works in Korean is the Bixby Text Call. This feature allows you to answer via text-to-voice as well as what the caller is saying, which is similar to the feature that is found in the search engine. An English version is in the works. The old-fashioned way to see if a call is worth it is to send it to voicemail.
Here's how to block a call after you've hung up.
In the Contact app, you can choose to block or report.
It is possible to block the number or report it as junk mail.
You can go to your phone or contacts app. Look for someone you want to block. You can find it under the Recents tab in your phone app. Long press on the phone number when you are on that person's page. If you use the Contacts app, select Block number, if you use the Phone app, select Block. You will not be able to receive calls or text from that number if you choose to do so. The box should be checked if you want to report it as junk mail. Pick Block when you're ready.
The process on a phone is very similar to the one on a computer.
You can go to your phone or contacts app. Look for someone you want to block. You can find it under the Recents tab in your phone app. You can long press the phone number or tap the Block number from the Contacts tab of the phone app. In the Recents tab in your phone app, tap the number, then tap the information icon to expand it. There are separate options at the bottom of the screen for blocking and reporting the number.
It is time to stop receiving calls from that number. If the caller is persistent, they may just find another number to call you from. They will eventually get used to being blocked and will leave.
