After years of live-action Transformers movies feeling like they were coasting on their good looks, the first trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts reminds everyone that Beast Wars has always been the better part of the franchise.
Steven Caple Jr.'s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts tells the story of two humans who accidentally become involved in a conflict between the Autobots and the Decepticons.
Noah and Elena don't know that the Cybertronians are hiding in secret on Earth as ordinary human vehicles. Rise of the Beasts is set to introduce a number of Transformers that are based on organic animals. The idea of Cybertronians turning into organic beings has been touched on in the recent Transformers movies, but that doesn't seem to have affected Optimus.
The trailer makes it difficult to say if Rise of the Beasts will dig into the story of how the Predacons accidentally ended up in the prehistoric past due to time travel. It's clear that classic characters like Airazor, Cheetor, and Rhinox are going to be in the mix as Prime and his allies attempt to save the planet.
The cast of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts includes Tobe Nwigwe, Peter Dinklage, Liza Koshy, John DiMaggio, David Sobolov, Michaela Jae Rodriguez, Pete Davidson, and Cristo Fernndez. The movie will be in theaters in June.
