When the Neuralink brain implant is ready, Musk will put it in himself.

You would not know if you had a Neuralink device implanted. During a show-and-tell event for his startup, Musk said that it was hypothetical. I will in at least one of these demos.

The founder of the brain computer startup said he would get an implant on the social networking site.

Musk doesn't believe he'll have to wait a long time to fulfill his promise. The billionaire said at the event that he expects Neuralink will be ready to begin human trials in the next six months.

"Obviously, we want to be extremely careful and certain that it will work well before putting a device in a human, but we're submitted, I think, most of our paperwork to the FDA."

Insider asked a Neuralink spokesman for comment before publication.

Musk has missed his own projections for when Neuralink would begin implanting its devices in humans.

Neuralink hasn't tested on humans yet, but has tested the device on animals. Musk showed a video of a monkey using the device to play a video game. He gave a video of a monkey with a keyboard.

Synchronink beat Musk's company to implant its first device in a US patient and launched human trials in 2019. Multiple US patients who have been severely paralyzed have been implanted with the device that allows them to shop online and send text messages.

Both companies are working to create a brain- computer interface with chip implants. The brain-machine interface could do anything from cure paralysis to give people telepathy, according to Musk.

The billionaire believes that the device could help people who were born blind.
