FTX's celebrity endorsements were a red flag for a Dutch family who poured all their money into the exchange.

In an interview with CNBC, Didi Taihuttu's father said something was off about FTX, despite it being one of the largest centralized exchanges.

The family of five became famous after they sold all their assets to buy a piece of the world's most popular digital currency. The Taihuttu's told the outlet that after living in Portugal they decided to move to Thailand, where they are currently living on a monthly income of around $5,000.

According to Taihuttu, too many people were paid too much money to promote FTX.

FTX has invested millions of dollars in promotions with celebrities and athletes. The Miami Heat had a 19-year sponsorship. Brady, Curry, and David have been sued by FTX investors in the wake of the exchange's collapse.

In the aftermath of FTX's downfall, Taihuttu still championed bitcoin, and told CNBC that they keep a majority of their token in cold storage.

He said thatbitcoin is the king and that it's completely different than other projects.
