According to reports, the NBA told teams the season will start in October and end in April.

The news was reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

If the idea of a mid-season tournament is adopted, the schedule will feature only 80 regular season games. There will be additional games once the tournament is over.

It is noteworthy that the beginning of the season will be delayed by a few days.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver wants to break up the monotony of the regular season by having a mid-season tournament.

It's not going to be an overnight success if we do that, according to Silver. The obvious question is whether it is from the players or the fans. This is meaningful, why should we think so? Is it possible to play in- season tournaments? I'm going to say, "I understand that." I believe we can create new traditions. Right now, I'm very focused on that.
