Ben White left England's World Cup training base in order to return to his hometown.

The defender won't be in the squad for the rest of the tournament.

After an impressive start to the season, the 25-year-old was included in the England squad for the World Cup.

White missed Tuesday's win against Wales due to illness and did not play in England's first two games.

The Football Association asked that the player's privacy be respected.

The FA said in a statement that no replacements can be made at this stage of the World Cup and that they were all with Ben.

White was in the England squad that reached the European Championship final last year.

Since the tournament, the defender has only won two caps, taking his total to four.

The initial selection had remained the same.

After missing the first two games of the season because of a knee complaint, James Maddison was on the bench against Wales and looked like he was ready to go.

Kyle Walker made his first start since undergoing groin surgery in October as England beat Wales on Tuesday, when KalvinPhillips got some minutes under his belt.

After finishing first in their group, England will face off against Senegal on Sunday.
