A Texas attorney is accused of trying to shoot his ex-girlfriend at the bar where she works but was tackled to the ground by patrons.

He can be seen in the video walking up to the bar and putting a bag in front of him. He appears to speak for a moment, then pulls a handgun out of a bag and shoots at a woman who police say is his ex-girlfriend.

Court records show that Rush was charged with assault with a deadly weapon after the incident.

He was released 48 hours later after paying bail and outraging some in the community who shared the video on social media.

Kelly said that the attorney should be in jail pending a lengthy jury. I am committed to a safe city and I am disturbed by this video.

Records show Rush's bond was $40,000. 10% of the total bond is usually bail in Texas.

Rush was released from custody quickly and easily.

The courts seem to have failed the victim in this case, according to the head of the Austin police association.

Police told KTBC that Rush wanted to get back together with the woman after they broke up. She stopped responding to him.

He was threatening violence against her and her new romantic interest before the attack.

One of the men who tackled Rush said he wanted to vomit whenever he watched the video. The two patrons asked to remain anonymous.

The bar patron said Rush almost hit him in the head with one of the shots.

He told the station that they were all fortunate. It could have been so different. I would like to thank God.

Cops say good Samaritans held the man accused of trying to abduct the woman.
