A lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth II and aide to the royal family has stepped down after making controversial comments about a black woman.

While attending the Violence Against Women and Girls reception at Buckingham Palace Tuesday, the CEO of Sistah Space claimed that she was repeatedly pressed about where she was from.

According to a statement from Buckingham Palace, she referred to Susan Hussey, a former lady-in-waiting to the Queen.

According to the statement, Buckingham Palace reached out to Fulani and invited her to discuss her conversation with Hussey if she wanted.

According to The Independent, she was lady-in-waiting for more than 60 years prior to Queen Elizabeth's death.
