Don Mattingly is going to be the bench coach for John Schneider.
He won the National League Manager of the Year in 2020 after seven seasons as a manager, and now he's in Toronto.
The Los Angeles Dodgers won three division titles under Mattingly's watch. Before he became the Dodgers' manager, he was the Yankees' hitting coach and bench coach.
In Toronto, Mattingly takes over from Candaele, who was promoted from Triple-A Buffalo to serve as Schneider's bench coach. Candaele will return to his job as manager of the Triple-A Bisons in 2023, according to the BlueJays.
During his 14-year playing career with the Yankees, Mattingly won nine Gold Glove awards at first base, three Silver Slugger awards, and the 1984 American League batting title.
