According to an SEC filing made public Tuesday, Disney paid $900 million to the MLB to buy out the league's remaining 15% stake in the company.
Disney is now the sole owner of the company that powers Disney+ and other consumer services.
In November, Disney bought out MLB's stake in BAMTech for $900 million, according to the SEC filing. Bob Iger is returning to Disney as the company's new CEO. It was one of the last big moves by the company.
Iger will make organizational and operating changes within the company to address the Board's goals, according to the filing.
MLB started MLB Advanced Media to power its website. The streaming division was spun off into a new company. Disney invested $1 billion for a stake in the company. The entertainment conglomerate invested more money in order to increase their stake. The NHL sold its 10% stake in the league to Disney for $350 million in 2020.
Disney+ is set to launch its ad-supported tier next week. There was an increase of 12 million subscribers in the third quarter of the year.
