After the selection committee unveiled its final rankings Tuesday, Georgia, Michigan, TCU and USC are all poised to make the College Football Playoff.

Georgia remained the top ranked team. The Michigan team beat Ohio State 45-23 last Saturday and moved up one spot to second. USC made its debut in the top four after LSU and Ohio State lost.

The chair of the committee said on the show that there was a lot of discussion about the top four. There was no reason to move Georgia out of the top position.

Ohio State must hope for upsets and chaos in the upcoming title games in order to get a chance to make the playoffs. Since Ohio State won't be playing an extra game if they lose in the conference title game, the committee's view of an untainted team that loses in the title game will have a lot to do with that. Alabama was just behind the Ohio State at the top of the rankings.

The call to put Ohio State ahead of Alabama was a difficult one to make. There are a lot of games that need to be played this weekend.

If the top four teams win, there won't be a lot of drama. USC and Utah will play for the Pac-12 title in Las Vegas. In October, Utah handed USC its only loss of the season, when Rising ran for a 1-yard touchdown and converted the 2-point conversion with 48 seconds left.

Georgia plays LSU in the SEC championship game while Kansas State plays Kansas in the Big 12 title game. The teams are favored to win.

The committee might have a harder time making decisions if more than one team loses. No two-loss teams have ever made the College Football Playoff, and every other ranked team has at least one loss.

When previewing the weekend, he said that college football always delivers. We are excited to have the chance to watch these games together. We are going to evaluate all of it.

The two-loss teams are led by Alabama and Tennessee. 10 round out the Top 10. After losing to South Carolina last Saturday, the Tigers were eliminated from playoff contention.

South Carolina went from unranked to 19th in this week's rankings. The first unranked team to win two games against AP Top 10 opponents in the same year was the South Carolina Gamecocks.

The American Athletic Conference championship game will be played on Saturday, with the winner going on to play in the title game. The winner will get a spot in a New Year's Six game.

The final rankings and bowl announcements will be released on Sunday.
