Aeroplan is one of my favorite frequent flyer programs due to the variety of airline partners, the ability to have one-way awards for 5000 points, and the great online booking experience. Aeroplan has gotten even better because of additional award space with a popular partner airline.
One of the top airlines in the world is Singapore Airlines. Most long haul business class award space is only released to members of the KrisFlyer frequent flyer program.
Partner frequent flyer programs historically haven’t had access to this award space… until now. Air Canada Aeroplan now has access to an impressive amount of Singapore Airlines long haul business class award space, which wasn’t previously the case (and this isn’t available through other partner programs).
Take a look at the amount of award availability between New York and Singapore, where you have the choice of flying business class nonstop on the world's longest flight, or traveling through Frankfurt.
Take a look at the availability of awards from Los Angeles to Singapore.
It is possible to cross the Atlantic with plenty of award space on Singapore Airlines.
You can transfer your KrisFlyer points to book Singapore Airlines through KrisFlyer. You can combine these flights with any of Aeroplan's other partners on a single award.
If you want to fly from New York to Singapore with a seven day stop in Germany, or if you want to fly from New York to Vietnam with a combination of Singapore Airlines and Bamboo Airways, this is a great opportunity.
I have been able to confirm that the award availability on Singapore Airlines isn't a mistake, even though I can't guarantee that Aeroplan's award availability will always be as good as it is now Someone at Aeroplan probably worked hard to make this happen.
I don't know how Aeroplan negotiated this, but I can point out that the people at Aeroplan are really committed to building a great program, and that they have a really good relationship with their airline partners.
Air Canada award availability is hard to come by at reasonable costs and phone hold times can be bad. Aeroplan is putting in a lot of effort to build a great program for partners.
Aeroplan is not just focused on the breadth of airline partner relationships, it is also focused on the depth of relationships.
Air Canada Aeroplan now has access to long haul airlines. You can book these awards on Air Canada's website.
You can combine multiple Aeroplan partners on a single award, and you can add stopovers on awards for just 5,000 points one way. Excellent work, Aeroplan!
What do you think about Aeroplan's access to award seats?
