I don't know why the muppets love Christmas but they do. A feature-length TV movie and a theatrical movie have been made by the cast of the Muppet show. The Muppet Christmas Carol is one of the best-loved Christmas Carols of all time. I would like to talk about the TV movie, which is more famous than the movie.
It was a very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie that aired on NBC in 2002. Like The Muppet Christmas Carol, it is a parody of the Frank Capra-directed, Jimmy Stewart-starring movie It's a wonderful life. The movie is about a man who is going to lose his family's bank if he doesn't have enough money by Christmas. He has the money, but he needs to figure out how to get it back. Kermit and his friends are about to lose their theater unless something crazy happens.
So far it's been good. George was going to commit suicide when he lost the money, but Clarence was going to save him. Clarence gave George a vision of what his family, friends, and town would be like without him, and it was bleak.
It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie didn't figure it out if there was a way to duplicate the plotline of It's a wonderful life without the tragedy and depression. The Muppet Theater is in danger of being foreclosed on by the bank owner if they don't pay their loan by Christmas Eve. When he gives the money to Fozzie to deliver, he loses it on the way, and so he loses his mind as well. If you haven't seen him scream about how he wants his existence to be obliterated, it's worth a look.
David Arquette is playing the frog's guardian angel Daniel, who shows him what the Muppets would be doing if they hadn't come into their lives, and here's where things really take a turn for the mind-blowing. You should watch the movie and see what happens. One may consider starting at 1:02:14 if one were to look online for it and find a video of it. If you can't legally buy it, let me tell you a few of the things that have happened.
It is about the most bizarre 10 minutes of television I have ever seen, but it is not the only madness going on in the movie. Fozzie jumps and cartwheels through the hallway. SpongeBob SquarePants isn't on TV so The Boss decided to investigate Kermit's misery. In his best performance, the Prawn abandons the Muppets to serve Bitterman. Robin is the nephew of Kermit the Frog and he plays the green fairy in a parody of Moulin Rouge.
This is all in the movie's reality, which is what this is all about. The 2002 movie's maddest moment is in the world without Kermit. The Twin Towers of the World Trade Center can be seen through the window of Miss Piggy's apartment, which indicates that if Kermit wasn't alive, the 9/11 attacks wouldn't have happened. The revelation became a meme in 2015. The background behind the windows of the set was old and hadn't been checked.
It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie isn't available on Disney+ because of NBC jokes. The cast of Scrubs, the Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, and more made it feel dated in a way. There is a really fun black humor in the TV movie that a lot of Muppet entertainment lacks. It is possible that Very Merry can be hokey, but in a way that is appropriate to the character. Scooter is dancing in a rave cage.
It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie can be found on DVD and Blu-ray. Perhaps somewhere else.
