The Georgia Bureau of Investigations and the state attorney general are being asked to investigate whether Walker committed a felony by voting in Georgia while claiming a homestead exemption for his Texas home.

It appears that Walker was not a resident of Georgia for voting purposes when he registered to do so. It is a felony to vote or register to vote if you know that you are not eligible to do so.

Walker is trying to win the Democratic nomination in the Senate race. A win by the Democrat could give his party a 51-47 majority in the Senate.

Walker, a former football player who ran for Senate at the urging of Donald Trump, has been accused of paying for women to get abortions. He is accused of receiving a tax credit for a Texas home that is his primary residence in order to get a tax credit for it.

According to the complaint, Hershel Walker claimed a homestead tax exemption in Tarrant County, Texas, before voting in the general and primary elections. The homestead exemption in Texas requires that the property be owned and occupied by the owner.

According to CNN, Walker's $4 million home in the Dallas suburb of Westlake will be exempt from taxes. The exemption was granted by the tax appraisal office. Walker took the homestead tax exemption after he launched his bid for Senate in Georgia.

The owner of the property needs to use the home as his or her main residence on January 1 of the tax year to be eligible for the tax break. If a homeowner moves out of Texas, they can still get the exemption if they return to the house within two years.

Georgia law requires a voter with a homestead tax exemption to claim the address where the exemption is being used for voting.

According to his claim to the homestead exemption in Texas, Walker was not a resident of Georgia when he voted. Any person who votes or register to vote knowing that they are not eligible to do so is guilty of a felony.

When elected, a person must be an "inhabitant" of their state.

According to election records maintained by the Office of the Georgia Secretary of State, Walker registered to vote in Fulton County, Ga., on August 17th, 2021.

Jeff Law told 11Alive that he will ask Walker if his Texas home is still his main residence. Walker's driver's license could be looked at to see if it matches the address.

The Walker campaign didn't return requests for comment.

The chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia called for a probe into whether Walker lied about being a Georgia resident.

Williams told 11Alive that Walker must be held accountable for his pattern of lies. It is yet another reminder that Walker is not qualified to be a senator.
