There are a lot of great ski towns in the US. If you want to get some exercise in the fresh mountain air or just enjoy a glass of wine after a day of shopping, read on. There are ski towns with a variety of activities and experiences that are worth a visit this winter.

Telluride, Colorado

It feels like a proper Swiss mountain village to be located in Colorado. Over the years, the town has developed a variety of activities for non-skiers to enjoy, with opportunities for snowshoeing, ice-skating, dog sledding and more. The ghost town of Dunton Hot Springs is just across the mountain from the town of Telluride. Renting fat-tire bikes from San Juan is a great way to go for a ride in the snow.

You can escape the winter chill by visiting the Historical Museum or one of the many independent shops in the town. There are a lot of different types of distilleries and breweries to choose from. You can eat at the on-site restaurants at most of the breweries, where you can warm up quickly.

The film festival is held in September. During a winter break, you can watch a lot of movies. The Nugget Theater is located in the old First National Bank Building.

Sun Valley, Idaho

Try Nordic skiing if you don't like Alpine skiing. Sun Valley Nordic Center has 125 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails, as well as snowshoeing and fat biking. You can take a tour on a snow machine at the lodge. Snowmobiles can use hundreds of miles of groomed trails in Sun Valley. The Sun Valley Suns hockey team goes head to head with other ski town teams at Campion Ice House, so if you want to cheer on the team, get into the spirit and join local fans.

One of America's top towns for culture is Sun Valley, which is home to local galleries that feature Western and contemporary art. The Spa at Sun Valley Lodge offers massage, body rituals, and other spa services.

Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado

When you visit Aspen/Snowmass, you will be able to see a lot more than the mountains. The Breathtaker Alpine Coaster, which soars through the wilderness and over ski runs at up to 28 miles per hour, is accessible from the top of the lodge. The kids will be thrilled by this. You can sign up for Ullr Nights, which offers Friday nights with fun things to do.

You can take the Aspen Mountain gondola for a 15-minute ride that will take you up to lunch on the deck. There are free ice skating and snow tubing in the base village.

Stowe, Vermont

The classic New England destination is scenic. The dining scene in Stowe is a celebration of locallysourced ingredients. The top of Vermont's highest peak is where you can get a farm-to-table lunch. You can find unique boutiques, country stores, galleries, specialty markets, sporting goods stores and other retailers in the town.

The Vermont Ski & Snowboard Museum is a great place to learn about the history of skiing and snowboarding in the state. After lacing up your ice skates for a glide around the outdoor rink at the Lodge at Spruce Peak, you can grab a drink in the lobby of the mountain lodge and watch the snow fall.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

There are a lot of things to do on and off the mountain in Wyoming. You can take the Jackson Hole Aerial Tram in 12 minutes and get a panoramic view of the Jackson Hole valley. You can get a waffle at Corbet's.

Whether you are looking for handmade knives, locally distilled spirits or trendy apparel, there is plenty of shopping to be found down below.

There are sleigh rides, dog sledding, snowmobiling, and snow-coach tours available through the National Elk refuge. There is a 95-acre park on the banks of the Snake River where you can relax and take in the view.

Park City, Utah

There are plenty of things for non-skiers to do in Park City. The town has 47 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. There are a lot of boutique shops, restaurants, and galleries to visit in this town.

Escape Room Park City has an outdoor scavenger hunt that you can take part in. Stand-up paddleboard yoga and snow-season fly fishing in blue-ribbon-awarded riverways can be done in Park City. Have you ever wondered what it's like to drive a bobsled? It's time to wonder no more. The 2002 Salt Lake City Olympic Games were held at Utah Olympic Park.

There are a lot of food and drink options in the city. Do you want to stay in? The bartender's box is an at- home delivery that comes with all the ingredients for a delicious cocktail. Guests are welcomed by sleigh ride to the tent. The menu of decadent oysters, clams, shellfish and other delicacies at Rime Seafood & Raw Bar at Deer Valley Resort is almost as satisfying as the trip up to Rime.
