The Chicago Bulls are 11th in the Eastern Conference at 9-11, but they won't be looking for a new coach soon.
The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Tuesday that the Bulls agreed to an extension with their star player before the start of the 2022-23 NBA season.
The Bulls went to the playoffs last year for the first time in two years.
The Bulls would've finished higher if Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso hadn't missed so many games. Patrick Williams only made 17 appearances.
Even though he had two years left to run on his original contract, giving him an extension made sense because he largely achieved what the team set out to do.
The front office has not had any buyer's remorse just yet.
Sam Smith of the Bulls' official site said that Ball may not be on the court until January after undergoing knee surgery.
